该剧改编自尾鱼的小说《七根凶简》。上古时期，陨铁包裹外星来物降临凤子岭，带来七个神秘生物。生物可寄生人体，干扰意识，引人作恶。上古大德与其弟子以神木打造七块木简，将异物引入其中，命名“七根心简”，再以陨铁打造凤凰鸾扣将其封印。历代能人志士继承大德遗志，记载封印心简之法，流传后世。百年前，一犬偶然在凤子岭刨出木简，心简再现人间。二十年间，一宗宗离奇凶案接踵而来，木代、罗韧、炎红砂、一万三和曹严华五个平凡而热血的年轻人因缘际会组成“凤凰小分队”，共同踏上收服凶简的冒险征途。
